NATURAL PARKS IN SPAIN
The iberian Peninsula, is one of the richest areas in biodiversity due to the mountainous relief and the geographical location.
It is close to the African continent, and the influence of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, gives it the optimal and ideal conditions.
Only in Spain are there 85.000 fauna and flora especies, 54% of the total european.
We can find 50.000 invertebrate especies, 635 vertebrates and 8000 especies of plants and 2000 of them are protected. 27% of the territory are protected areas including 150 natural parks and 39 Biosphere Reserves.
You can find stunning coastal plains, beach coves, cliffs, river valleys, basins, plateau, canyons, rocky forms, eroded rocks, that have much geological interest. All this relief originates wide variety of microclimates and contrast landscapes and habitats: Marshes and dunes, riparian, evergreen, mountain and tropical-like forests, shrubby, bushy and aromatic endemisms in a short distance.
